The month of Kythorn (June) comes to a close and the 1st of Flamerule (July) is tomorrow. You all gather back at Rockhammer Hold and get each other caught up to date with what you did over the past week.

First of all, congrats, you are now a 2nd level guild! So, more contracts, NPCs, and events will be coming your way.

Anyways, let's have everyone chime in here with what they did over the past week.

I have found some scribing work at the Red Wizards and made a bit of gold. I have found a captain and six guards. Dominic, the captain, is a first level fighter, and his men are first level warriors. They all have studded leather armor, long bows, and short swords. Dominic wants ten gold pieces a month and his men get six gold pieces each per month. I'll pay my NPC's and keep scrolling as I wait for new orders from the Pres. I also wanted to go in to town in the coming days and research how much a smoke house and jarring supplies cost.

I did it like this, I did it like that, I did it with a hollow club fashioned from resins, rather than wood, which was then drilled full of holes to reduce its weight and decrease the force with which you can swing it.

I was able to get a few things done over the past few days, including downing a deer for the keep and adding some coin to the coffers.
On a side note, what more do we know about these poison contacts, Umberto? They are paying pretty well for a fairly specific use poison that I have been providing them with. Almost too well.

Well I succeeded in convincing our goblins to attack the bugbears. I am sure it will cause some troubles but hopefully those troubles will be absorbed by some other poor sap I am able to pull into the mix. Althalus seems to have found my poison dealer, ahem. I guess I will have K'gorsz brew some nastier venoms in the coming days.

I met an experienced carpenter named Johan Cross, who actually has two apprentice carpenters working under him. “Yea, I’ll do it. It will cost you 15 gp a month for the three of us, it’s a good deal, I normally charge 9 a month for just me, but you’ll be getting three times the production.”

Sounded like a good deal, so I hired him, he should be here around the 1st of the month.

Also in Wageton I came across two older ladies who know a thing or two about gardening. These sisters, Kate and Meredith, have farmed this region for years. Together they will cost the group 8 gp’s a month. They too, will arrive at Rockhammer around the first.

I also recieved this letter...

"Umberto,

I find you in need of your services. The gears of politics grind slowly in Wageton and we need immediate action.

Two local loggers, have gone missing for two days. Some may not make anything of this, but in such a small community, this stands out. They were last seen at the Grey Hero (a local tavern) speaking with a tall woman with long, dark hair. This woman is not from around here. They left with her later and have not been seen since.

I fear we have no one else to turn to. Could you, or your associates, help us in this matter?

Cato
"

(DM Note –this is, of course, not an adventure for the PCs)

So in several days the keep will be bursting with people!. I cannot wait!

Lozigee clears his throat..

the caravans that go by here are in need of some services so i've accuired a tent to pass out refreshments...hopefully they will be able to aquire some of the other wares you kids have been tinking on....we should soon be able to provide them a full respite from their journeys...and hopefully make some good connections to goods traveling just mins from our door....maybe these woodworkers can bring a little more class to this endeavor...

I've also made some friends that are often overlooked as they scurry around the city...... they will be a wealth of info.....

so the Hammers Throw tent/tavern will be open on the morrow.... i'd greatly appreciate if we might find a heavy to help with anyone who might cause problems...

Wow. A vist from MF. Wow. Anyways...

You hear a quiet knock on the door to the conference room (wherever that it) that momentarily interrupts the progress reports. It’s Panian with a report on the goblin’s attack on the bugbears

“K’Gorsz showed me good spot south of the bugbear camp in which to observe. The goblin raiders, mounted on worgs, rushed in from the north nearly dropping a bugbear standing near the campfire within seconds. One goblin died in the initial assault.

The second wave of worg-riding goblins attacked the still confused bugbears and another one of them dropped.

The battle steadied for a bit, with more bugbears emerging from the tents. Another of the bugbears near the campfire dropped. However, a shaman of the bugbears quickly brought him back to his feet.

Then it looked like the tide had turned in the favor of the attacking goblins; two more bugbears were dropped, and three others were seriously wounded. But it would not last long, the bugbears rallied and dropped three goblins in the next few seconds, including the goblin leader.

The worgs, now without goblins fled in all directions; one narrowly missing me. I do think that a lone goblin atop a worg managed to escape.

I stuck around a bit to measure the damage dealt to the bugbears. Their shaman is worth his weight in gold; he got all the dropped bugbears back on their feet. They are extremely wounded now, but they did not lose a single member.”

(DM Notes – As we have made our house rule of stabilizing more favorable; it too goes for the bad guys. This is probably the one instance where you would actually see monsters benefit from it.)

And now back to the reports…

Well, at least we got rid of the goblins. Or most of them. Sigh.

That's all right. Perhaps in the future we can direct the Tannaruk's against the bugbears. For now at least we've identified the primary target in that camp, that accursed bugbear shaman.

I myself have been busy smithing. I managed to complete a heavy crossbow, which provided a good bit of coin. My two smiths, Kivon and Kalunt have also been busy. Kalunt made a heavy mace and a long sword, both of which sold. Kivon has been working on a chain shirt with good progress.

The three of us shall be busy here at the keep over the next week, smithing as time allows, but also making what components we may for the barracks, to help speed that process since carpenters have been found.

Melisi: Good work on hiring the guards. Please set them up with lodging and a workable rotation. Unless there are other voices, I imagine there will be plenty of people at work during the daylight hours to only warrant 1 guard in each tower, leaving a heavy presence during the evening hours. Could you additionally look into an alarm bell of sorts? If that proves costly, perhaps I can smith out a bell and some stout chain on our end.

Umberto: Good work on coordinating the attack on the bugbears. I want you to keep an eye on them. They are injured right now, and likely to lay low. Which means this is the best time to strike them again. Perhaps we can get word to the patrols from Wageton and Silverymoon and see if they'd be interested in clearing them out. Remember the shaman as a prime concern.

Additionally, if you're able, that letter of yours warrants some investigation. See what we can do for them. It would be a good chance to spread our good name.

Althalus: I've heard no complaints from your 'ladies.' Keep up the fine work *wink*

Additionally you might be able to assist Umberto with the letter from Wageton, as it details a dark haired lady not from around here. Perhaps your sources might know?

Lozigee: Unless one of the hirelings is available to assist with your "heavy" work, I'd recommend keeping your eyes open for someone you trust. As far as your venture is concerned, it sounds like a fair plan, but I would consider what we're bartering for, what contacts we make, and an escape route, as I believe you'll be a bit away from our sturdy keep doors.
