Another beautiful summer day in the valley. Anyone want to talk to anyone at the keep today? Here is a link to Rock Hammer Hold details that has a list of everyone at keep.

I would really like to spend the morning with Delek, doing some basic training, Mr. Miagi stuff, wax on, wax off stuff. Then check on my goblin friend to see how the spider wrangling went. Finally visit with the laborers (the wall builders and carpenters), bring them some drinks, let them know how much I appreciate their hard work.

I'm gonna spend some time with Leera see if she has picked up any info from Janar see whats goin on there. Then I'd like to spend some time with the Temelites seeing what they have to say 'bout the hold any needs or concerns..,

Delek is very pleased to be under your tutelage for the day and you can see that he possess a quick mind as he easily learns some meditative techniques. Plus he waxes all the cars in the parking lot.

You catch up with K’Gorsz and find him tending to the giant spider that he has sort of hidden behind the keep. “Mmmm, good spider him is. Lot of poison from him. Strong stuff too.”

You mind wanders for a bit trying to figure out what to do with all this poison he is making, when he K’Gorsz shouts.

“Watch me! Him do good. Attack dog like you said.” The little goblin shouts at the spider for a few minutes, issuing various commands to move, attack, jump, etc. The giant spider doesn’t budge. “Hmmm, him acting up again. Not want to listen to K’Gorsz today. Maybe tomorrow.”

Yikes, you think, maybe that is a bad idea making him an attack dog.

Last you check up on Johann and the guys and are pleased to see they are already having a good time. “Johann is the best, great guy to work for, really makes us feel like a team” ones of the workers says. You hang out with the crew for a bit and they feel very appreciated.

Johann comes over and talks to you a bit, “We are very excited to be working on some great projects here in the valley. In fact, I think we are going to use trees from the nearby duskwood area to build the guardhouse, the temple, and the university. It’s a real pain to cut down, but that stuff is very resilient to fire.”

Hasimir's response...

You catch up to Leera around mid-morning and ask her about the Dreadlord’s mole. “She hasn’t done anything crazy. Janar paces around a lot, especially the first few days. I know she is really worried about her child. She has settled down a bit recently but I know she is still bothered. She has not left the valley once since she was hired on.”

Leera looks around before continuing, “I probably shouldn’t know this but Janar must have to get word back to the Dreadlord soon, like a progress report or something. You or one of the Lords here at the keep will want to have a say in what information gets back to him. You might want to act on this fast just in case she does something crazy.”

By late afternoon you get to spend some time with the Temelites to see who they are faring. Thinks are going very well considering you have what little housing you have. The stimulus package that Umberto gave them has gone a long way as well. The general sense you get is that they, now that they see the beginnings of major structures taking place, are finally starting to settle into the idea that this a going to be a permanent residence.

“Aye, a much better place,” says one of the old timers as he eyes the valley, “much more defensible than Temel ever was. Why I lived there my whole life as did my father before me. You just felt you were out in the open and very vulnerable. Not here, especially with the wall up now. Those orcs could never invade us here at Rock Hammer.”

Overall the Temelites are very happy yet eager to finish building their lives. In fact more and more Temelites are lending a hand to the builders; they feel fulfilled that they have a hand in their own destinys.

Umberto has the fleeting thought, maybe it's not a male spider....He shakes his head, no that would be terrible...or would it?

How illegal is this poison? Would Silverymoon frown on us from using it defensively? Perhaps some training is poison use, against the orcs and the Dreadlord would not be a bad thing. They would not fight nice, so why should we?

What Silverymoon doesn't know, they can't get upset over. The poison is kinda like weed. You can't buy it or sell it legally, but if you have it, you're just frowned upon. Unless you are pulled over, then it looks really bad. So, if you keep it (which is what you'll probably have to do) I wouldn't see problem with using it on bad guys.

After talking to everybody today Hasimir finds Umberto.
"Hey boss I was wondering about Janar. Leera says that she thinks that Janar needs to be heading back to the Dreadlord soon. I was hoping that we might sit her down and tell her what we do and don't want the Dreadlord to know. I don't want her going back and giving him everything, but I don't want her child to come to any harm either."

"There is no real way for us to be sure. Either Janar is truly in trouble as is her child, or the Dreadlord is true master of deception. We should tell her to report that the keep is slowing recovering with an insurgence of refugees from Temel. That our defenses are strengthening every day but the early morning watch is lacking. With that said we can strengthen those times in hopes of planting false information."

"I agree. I will go tell her now. is she free to leave now or should we wait?"

"She can go once she has this information, we can only hope for the best, and expect the worst. Thanks Hasimir."

"Indeed."

hasimir takes a stroll, finds Janar,and tells her what's what and that she is free to leave to the dreadlord whenever she is prepared.

Speaking of dead drop orders, it is about time for Althalus to check up on Syvgar to see if he has left any messages for him.

I will make the drop spot part of my normal scouting routine, so that my presence there will not seem out of the ordinary to any that may be following us as we leave the keep. If I go straight to the spot and straight back, then there will be no need for wondering why Syvgar and I would be making trips to that location.

To Althalus – As the sun sets on the valley you slink out of the keep and head over to the dead drop location you set up with Syvgar. Taking your time to make sure you are not spotted, it is quite dark when you finally reach your destination. You hold your breath as you reach into the tree stump, hoping that the half-orc is still alive and able to communicate.

Success!

Quickly you stash the note into your pocket and take a quick look around. A torch light catches your attention. Ducking into the underbrush you see a woman not far away. It’s Janar.

As fate would have it, her dead drop for the Dreadlord is not but 100 yards from Syvgar’s

You stay out longer than expected to see if anyone picks it up but realize it could be days before that happens. Between the late hour and your desire to get back to Rock Hammer to read the note, you make haste back to the keep.

Once back you gather your comrades and read the note:

“The Dreadlord is furious and paranoid. He has executed three lieutenants and moved our base three times since your efforts in Wageton. The halfling and goblin that were with us in Wageton have finally returned to our underground camp. While the Dreadlord was livid at Xenon’s crew for not getting Merthuvial he was pleased to see that those two did uncover some other artifacts from that room. He needs them to complete the temple he is so hard at work on.”

“I must run, the Dreadlord wants me to investigate some mysterious wall in one of the underground tunnels that has appeared near the surface. Good luck all.”

Kregnok (yes, it's me,) will stretch mightily and get to work on seeing how progress has been made with all things... such as armor and weapon production, other miscellaneous metal bits, and other crafting type things. In the course of his rounds, he'll inspect the wall with the stonemasons, and plan a consecration in the Dwarvish fashion for the wall and gates for safety and security.

I'll post up your results from the armor and weaponsmithing later but I wanted to see about the PDFs. I can't email them (too big) although Lou did find a word document version that is a little generic but I might be able to get those through.

Kivon continues his plugging away on the heavy platemail that he is working on and makes ok progress this week and it is now 23% completed.

Kalunt finishes the masterwork longsword and thanks to a great roll for the last week he also manages to complete a bastard sword as well. The profit for these two items is 210 gp (50 gp to the keep, and 160 to Kregnok).

Nadia finished work on the Composite longbow (+1 STR). You can either sell it for a profit of 117 gp, or I didn't know if you wanted to give this out to someone instead. Either way, let me know Kregnok, in this thread. In the meantime I'm going to start the next day.

I believe that longbow was meant for the winner of an archery competition... if not, see who wants it first, then if no one, throw it in the vault.

Great memory (bonus XP!!!), Nadia already cranked out the bow for the archery contest winner (Marina) so I guess we'll throw it out here in the forum for a bit and then off to the vault if no one wants it. Don't forget that you can claim this for your NPCs as well.
