"You have done very well Syvgar, and will be rewarded for work. Can we assume you are not interested in continuing this investigation?" The monk offers the half-orc a water skin.

"Eff no. Well...."

(You get the idea that you could talk him into it with a well thought out argument. He does think that doing this will get him killed.)

"The work you have done so far is amazing, and will continue to help us in thwarting these vile creatures. However more is needed, if what happened here is unleashed upon the denizens of the Marches, it would be tragic. But you, you are already in, and I would pay you your weight worth in gold and then some to continue this clandestine operation."

" I think you can do this Syvgar, I know you can do this Syvgar. Can the Rockhammer Hold count on you? Are you willing to risk your life to put these fiends in the hells?"

Syvgar sighs, "Yea....I'll do it."

DM Note - As you guys head out of the tomb, Syvgar will take the rope ladder up to the statue in the woods and leave that way, while the rest of you will probably leave through the front doot in the graveyard. So...is Umberto taking the sword?

The monk watches the half-orc leave, "There goes either the craziest or bravest man I've met in a long time." Umberto looks at the black blade. "Well my friends, here is to the next great chapter of our journey." With that he takes the sword in hand.

Agreed then. We should meet up with Cato in Wageton and inform him of these events. Vadania's burial rites must be attended to, and we'll need to get word of these events to other peoples as well (referring to the Lady we met in regards to the quarry work, I believe).

You start to make the long trek out of the tombs. The “Betrayer” one floor remains on his throne as you slip through that room as quickly as possible. When you return to the waterfall, Sigur has a surprise for you.

“Did this one escape?” says Sigur with his foot on the chest of the dead Jeroog.

Sigur is glad to see that you took care of all those who troubled him earlier, “And I’m glad to see you all in good health. I fear I have run out of healing powers for the day anyways.”

You big him farewell and continue on your trek. A few hours later you step out of the tomb and into the early evening air. You take a deep breath and rejoice that you have made it.

“The heroes return! Hazzuh!” The screams come up from a handful of watchers near the front gate of the graveyard. With a bit of trepidation, the people open the gate and run to greet you, soon you have a good sized crowd around you.

Cato June arrives, “Thank the gods you returned safe. Let’s return to the tavern so you can relax and eat.”

What seems like the entire town, the crowd escorts you back to the tavern. Everyone is excited to hear your tale but remain respectful and allow you to sit down and get a free meal. Cato June pulls up a chair, “Rest assured heroes of Rock Hammer Hold, I’ve sent a runner off to return with your reward for this great tasks you’ve performed for the town of Wageton. But please, tell us of your adventure.”

You look around at the already packed tavern and see everyone scooting their chairs closer and eagerly listen to your tale.

Umberto looks at the crowd and takes a moment to whisper in Leera's ear, "Let us give them a good show, I will start it, you bring song and help me continue."

"We entered the graveyard and before we even enter the tombs a nasty little halfling and a foul wolf, this tall with teeth as long as Kregnok's beard pounced upon us. We all fought valiantly and won, but were cautious, our enemy was strong and brazen."

"We entered the mausoleum, and were greeted by the undead, not the least of which was an OGRE! An OGRE ZOMBIE! Good gods! The cruelty! We returned a young girl who was trapped in the tombs and then proceeded into its depths."

Umberto looks over his companions to see if anyone would like to take over, perhaps nodding to Leera to starting playing/singing some music...

Kregnok will return the monk's look in a manner to suggest that only dwarven ears were suited for dwarven story telling styles, and happily watch as the monk discovers his inner kabuki.

Leera give you a look like "I-wasnt-around-for-most-of-the-adventure", but continues to sing in the background.

Keep it up! Consider this a small trade off for Merthuvial.

Althalus, being Althalus, is far too busy surveying the grateful yound lasses in the tavern and drinking ale to be telling stories.

"The fiends who were defiling the mausoleum tried to hamper us at every turn, they put the undead in our way, they closed the little girl in the sarcophagus and cut a rope bridge. But none of this stopped us. We proceeded on until we encountered an abberation of the ilk of goblins, a Varag! These fierce foes stood seven feet high and with their evil nature nature struck down one of our own. The fair, brave and beautiful Vadania. My friend, my love," the monk pauses, looks down, a heavy sigh shakes his frame. He looks over the crowd, swallows hard and continues, "we defeated them of course. Moving even deeper we came across the most helpful of their lot, a mercenary were-rat named Garjuk. He alerted us to the schemes of Xeron, the dark pawn of an even darker master, the Dreadlord Holt Burukhan. Seeming to no longer be a threat we let the creature go. After solving a riddle from our new friend and very capable Tatyl, whom by the way saved us from scratching our heads on MANY occassions, we solved a riddle to grant us the blessing from a spirit of mausoleum."

The monk knods to the red wizardress, and then calls out to the inn keeper, " good sir be sure everyone drinks and eats well tonight, we will gladly pay the bill. Where were we...ah yes! After taking the blessed objects to aid us in our efforts we continued. Heeding the information from Garjuk we set to surpirse the evil cleric Krootad,a foul tempered hobgoblin! Fortunately we hard the hearty blessing of the dwarven gods, for in our midst was Kregnok, my most dear friend and valued healer. His faith has been a shield to us all, and know I shall never forget that. A drink to my bearded friend!" the monk raises his glass, lets every take a deep drink then continues, " The blessing of your ancestors aided us in a swift dispatching of Krootad before he could give undead life to a MINOTAUR! We refreshed ourselves from a magical fountain. Descending into lower levels of the tomb, we happened across Leera. She was unfortunate enough to become involved with the hired mercenaries of Xeron. After speaking to her for some length, we determined that she was not an enemy, but a woman that got mixed up with the wrong people. She agreed to travel with us, and proved to be, eventually, a brave warrior."

Umberto gives the bard a chance to do her thing and after a bit continues the tale. " Our party moved on, slaying several more Varags, finding out the shocking fact that the deadly Yuan-ti might be involved and encountering a powerful spirit of nature. He warned us of an evil creature that would ambush us in next room, and due to him being bound to the powerful waterfall in the cavern he could not destroy the beast himself. We championed his cause, and he healed us of the wounds we incurred fighting a HUMONGOUS spider and two spider-filled MUMMIES!"

"As we entered these final rooms of the mausoleum, the walls magically told a tale of an ancient story of this very land. It showed us a time when this land was in strife, much like now. It showed several people, of different races and backgrounds coming together to forge an alliance to withstand the chaos. But their was a betrayer in the midst. The betrayal broke the kings heart and the king slew the betrayer, only after many good men died."

"We found Xeron in final resting place of the heroes of this forgotten war. He was trying to escape through a hole in the ground like the rat, rather snake he was! In a fantastic battle we triumphed! The valiant barbarian Kelser took the brunt of the damage that battle, and of our brave expedition. Nothing seems to stop this man! What else is expect from the powerful Uthgardt! A drink to my friend and compatriot Kelser!" the monk drinks again, "With the amazing spell slinging of Taytl and the deadly bow of Althalus the ranger, Xeron was felled. It was then the spirit of the ancient king and his companions awoke and bestowed upon us, this!" the monk pulls forward and holds aloft the sword, " Merthuvial! the great sword that the king used to heal the Marches!"

"And now I tell our tale to you, you the great people of Wageton. Remember my pledge to you that as long as there is breathe in my lungs I will not let chaos consume this land! Hail to the peoples of the Silver Marches, hail to the heroes of Rockhammer Hold!" Umberto turns to his compatriots and bows graciously and with great flourish.

Awesome job Umberto! All I pictured the whole time was C-3P0 telling his story to the ewoks in Return of the Jedi.

A roar erupts from the crowd and mugs of ale are downed. Cato June smiles and pats you on the back. "It is late, please stay here for the evening."

You take one look at Kregnok staggering up to the bar and agree, traveling back to Rock Hammer Hold tonight is not a good idea.

Anything else before we all crash for the night? Is everyone leveled up to 4th now?

Umberto is sure to give Cato June the reward money back, if anyone wants that money they can have it from my share of the loot from the mausoleum. Off to bed for the monk.
