Although it was the middle of the night, the city of Rock Hammer soon awoke to sounds of trumpets bleating at the return of the Six Fingers.  King Baern was stumbled out of a deep sleep and welcomed the return of the adventurers in front of a growing crowd.  A feast would be set up for the following day.

The entire city turned out for the festival, King Baern spared no expense; street performers, dancers, and music could be seen and heard all throughout the streets.  Around midday, a contingent from Silverymoon, led by the Knights in Silver, arrived that included High Lord Methrammar (who first gave the quest to retrieve the Septasigilurue to Baern), as well as  Blaynden Darhunson, the Harper from the Vault of Sages.

The party raged through the night, and it was not until the early hours of the next day did the Brigade, The Six Fingers, Hand of the King Wesley Droverson, King Baern, and the representatives from Silverymoon, were able to sit down and speak in private.

High Lord Methrammar thanked everyone for their steadfast dedication in returning this invaluable book to Silverymoon.  He said that scholars will pour over the document and make any changes they deemed necessary to alter the defenses in a way as to assure that anyone with a copy of the book would find it useless.

Next the High Lord spoke to King Baern, and promised that he will continue to assist the Kingdom of Rock Hammer would enjoy their sovereignty in the future.

The High Lord is nearing retirement, having served the City of Silverymoon as well as leading the loosely formed mutual defense league of Silverymoon, Everlund, and Sundabar.   “King Baern, I will see to it that you have a seat at that table.  Perhaps with your influence and ties to Mithral Hall, you can convince the dwarves of region to stand by us again as they did when my mother ruled.”

Everyone smiled and applauded this generous offer, The High Lord added, “King Baern and I will discuss in private, establishing a more appropriate boundary and size for your kingdom.”  And again the group roared with applause.

The High Lord said his good byes and went off to bed.  Blaynden Darhunson stood up and again thanked the efforts of both the Brigade and the Six Fingers for all they have done for the Silver Marches, and awarded each person with a Harper Pin, making them all members of the secret organization that preserves peace and stability in the region.

Blaynden takes his leave as well, and asks that everyone be on their toes, “I am sure we will need to call upon your services again.”

King Baern wishes everyone a good night, and thanks to the constant mentions by the Hand of the King, says many things need to be addressed within Rock Hammer as well as the surrounding area.

But that is for tomorrow, tonight we drink!

It took the city of Rock Hammer a good two weeks to clean up from the lavish feast thrown by King Baern.  Nok & Nak’s Brewery suffered a good deal of damage from all the roughhousing going on, but the people of the Dwarven Ward were quick to come to the aid of their favorite establishment.

When the brewery was up and running again, Baern had rented it out for an evening to make a big announcement.  In attendance was everyone from the Brigade and the Six Fingers, Hand of the King Wesley Droverson, as well as ward and guild reps from all over Rock Hammer.

King Baern stood up and raised his mug of Natural Ones, and spoke, “Um…not much for flowery speeches, but um….big news…um…I’m getting married!  To Aralynn Battlehammer of Mithral Hall!”

The crowd goes wild, mugs of beer are handing out, and everyone congratulates Baern and Aralynn on the announcement.  And just when the heroes and the city had recovered from the last party, they jumped headfirst into the next.

Later in the evening, Wesley Droverson pulled the heroes aside (I’m using Heros to refer to everyone from the Brigade and the Six Fingers).  “I understand that our King has a favor to ask of us.  It is a wedding present for Queen Aralynn.  Decades ago her father, when her father was young, he fought the tribes of Obould Many-Arrows in the Spine of the World Mountains, north of the Lurkwoods.   While suffering a defeat to the orcs one day, he lost his family heirloom, the Crown of The Mountain Kings.  It was taken and given to King Obould XVII at Dark Arrow Keep where it still resides to this day.  Retrieving this would make for a great gift for Aralynn so that she may return it to her father and King of Mithral Hall.”

The heroes exchange nervous glances at each other; it is one thing to retrieve a crown, but from a fortress full of thousands of orcs?  It is folly.

Wesley waves off your trepidations, “There is an old dwarf by the name of Yuri Greymine who served with the dwarves of Mithral Hall long ago, who claims to know of a secret way into Dark Arrow Keep.  He can be found in Mirabar.”

Wesley leans in close, “This could go a long way to reuniting the dwarves of the Silver Marches, and also help stabilize our presence in the region.”
