Underground - Eleasis 2nd

You have just awakened from your rest. It is the morning of the 2nd of Eleasis and you are above ground resting near a huge statue in the thick underbrush of the woods.

So, we headed back down?

"We need to be extra cautious as we return down. Let us not make the mistake of thinking that yesterday's progress means that those areas are clear or free of traps."

'Indeed, we need to be extra on our toes. Let us proceed down."

Aye... though a wee pint of stout sounds mighty fine...

They come in pints? I'm getting one!

Maybe you’ll have to wait until Second Breakfast for those pints.

Anyways, you head back into the dungeon, down the rope ladder and back to the room with the crypts where you found Garjuk, and stand before the door where he said Krootad the hobgoblin cleric, was set up in.

Here is the room you'll be entering (from the south):

Tatyl thinks back to what Garjuk said regarding this room. "I remember him talking of coming out on a ledge, and an inner wall. But I wonder if the inner wall is high enough for us not to be seen when we open the door and appear on the ledge. Anyone remeber anything about this?"

Tatyl continues, "Some statues on the right, big one in the corner and something about a ladder down at the far end. Dragon statue of some sort in the center, right about where he thought Krootad and his minions would be. That's all I remember."

He also said the place was most likely defiled by now, and to have fun with the undead.

Ok Chatty Cathy's, let's put a plan in motion and...I don't know...maybe actually go in the next room?

The monk wil move to space J-9

The monk dies.

Just kidding. Umberto inches the door open and silently slips into the room. As far as you can tell it’s exactly how Garjuk described it. However, the inner wall (brown line) is too high for you to see over. You can hear the clink of someone moving in armor and the occasional murmuring.

This is what Umberto can see from his vantage point:

A ladder of iron rungs leads down to a wide hall occupied by four grim statues of men in black armor, each holding a shield in front of his legs and feet. In the far northeast corner of this landing is a statue of a minotaur holding a longspear, the haft resting on the ground and the tip affixed to the ceiling. Vault doors behind each of the statues hang ajar. On the opposite wall, engravings depict a battle between humanoid armies. The passage seems to continue to the west around a corner.

Kregnok will ask Althalus to check the vantage from the other ladder, since he's sneakier.

Done and done, sir!

Althalus slides into the room and positions himself on the western side. The ranger freezes in place as the sounds of clinking armor stops, and he reaches for his blade. Then, it starts again and you all breath a sigh of relief.

This is what Althalus can see from his vantage point:

The hall ends at a ladder of iron rungs leading down to a narrow hallway that runs north. Scenes of battle are engraved on the wall. The passage seems to continue to the east around a corner.

All right... Althalus, take the berserker and Tatyl, I'll go down the other ladder with Umberto, and we'll work our way to the center (C-5) area as quietly as we can.

You split into two groups and quietly circle around the perimeter of the inner room. A thin wall cordons an oddly shaped inner chamber, inside which a statue of a gold dragon spits water into a clear pool. Near you, the skeleton of a massive horned humanoid lies. Beyond that and the statue lie four skeletons. A hobgoblin dressed in black breastplate stands near them, having just placed something in the eye of one. “I see you have wisely returned, Garjuk” says the hobgoblin without looking up.

Althalus nods to the others, knowing they will realize the potential danger from the skeletons, draws his nocked arrow and fires on the unsuspecting hobgoblin.

Althalus draws his bow and fires across the room, the arrow nearly strikes the gold dragon statue, but does strike the hobgoblin cleric in the upper back. The howls in pain and turns to your direction (he is still green so I didn’t update the map).

This is a surprise round, so everyone can take a turn here and now. Depending on how initiative works for round 1, you may get two turns while Krootad is still flat footed.

Umberto rushes across the room with his monk speed (40ft to H6), his Bracers of Armor (be sure to adjust the AC,14 ) secure about his arms and delivers a STUNNING FIST to the hobgoblin. Who calls themselves a hobgoblin, seriously.

Kregnok will move to the rough center (F-6) of the room and Consecrate the area (25' radius).

Umberto dashes into the room, ducking around the statue of the gold dragon (all four squares the touch the statue require twice the movement to get though them) and comes up behind Krootad to deliver his stunning fist attack. It connects and staggers the hobgoblin as his eyes roll back into his head.

But only for a second. Krootad regains his senses.

Kregnok rushes into the room (dwarves – good at sprinting) and casts consecrate in the area, thus negating the desecrate Krootad previously cast.

Kelser takes a double-move and slips in behind Krootad, who cannot make an attack of opportunity as he is still flat-footed.

Tatyl moves into position and readies a spell.

Krootad casts defensively and touches the feet of the two nearest skeletons on the ground. Immediately they spring to life, obeying their master’s wishes.

Kesler hefts his great club over the hobgoblin’s head and it hits, dropping him to “yellow”

Althalus is up

Althalus will turn and watch the A6-A7 to see if anyone responds to the noise.

• Althalus pans back and forth, bow drawn, but sees nothing from the hole in the wall.
  
  
• Skeleton A slashes at Umberto, missing on the first and connecting on the second. The damage to the monk is minimal.
  
  
• Skeleton B takes two claw attack on Kelser and misses on both. The second miss is thanks Kregnok countering the existing desecrate spell.
  
  
• Tatyl steps forward and casts her spell at Skeleton A. A ray shoots forth from her fingertips and strikes the undead creature, knocking him down to “yellow”.

Kregnok is up. (Since no one moved, I didn't bother updating the map. The only change would be that Skeleton A is "Yellow"

Kregnok will bless his companions with the blessing of Dumathoin.

Kregnok's spell goes off and everyone is caught in its radius, and is now +1 to hit and has a +1 bonus to saves versus Fear.
